Overview
Fiberglass mesh is bonded to the back of slabs and tiles with epoxy or polyester resin, holding fragile stone together through processing, shipping and installation. It's standard on onyx, many exotic granites and quartzites, and thin veneers. Mosaics are also mounted on mesh sheets.
Mesh must be alkali-resistant and compatible with the setting adhesive. Some adhesives bond poorly to resin-backed stone, so check with the adhesive maker.
