Overview

What it is

Edge polishers grind and polish the edges of slabs, tops and tiles as they pass on a conveyor: straight edges, bevels, half and full bullnose, ogee, drip grooves and 45° mitres.

They're essential for high-volume producers of vanity tops, stairs, window sills and copings, where hand finishing would be too slow and inconsistent.

  • Italian makers close for about three weeks in August; orders placed in July often slip to September.
  • Chinese makers close for Lunar New Year; order by early December for spring delivery.
  • Large lines are built to order: expect three to nine months from deposit to commissioning.
  • Plan installation for your own slow season so the changeover doesn't cost production.
